Cuisine American
- ¼ cup popcorn kernels 50g
- ½ teaspoon neutral oil like canola or vegetable
- Melted butter for serving, optional
- Fine salt for serving, optional
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
In a small bowl, add the popcorn kernels and oil. Stir well to coat every kernel.
Carefully pour the coated kernels into the air fryer basket, spreading them in a single layer.
Air fry for 3 to 5 minutes. Listen for the popping to slow down to one or two pops every few seconds.
Once the popping has nearly stopped, turn off the air fryer. Let the basket sit for a moment to allow any final pops to finish.
Pour the popcorn into a large bowl. Drizzle with melted butter and sprinkle with salt, if using. Toss to combine and serve immediately.
Do not overcrowd the basket. If you want to make more, cook it in batches.
Listen carefully as the popcorn cooks. The sound is the best guide to know when it is done, as cooking times can vary between air fryer models.
Some kernels may not pop. This is normal. Discard any unpopped kernels before serving.
A small piece of foil or parchment with holes can help prevent kernels from falling through the basket grate, but check your air fryer's manual for safety guidelines first.
