Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm water and sugar in a small bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt; create a well in the center. Pour in the activated yeast mixture and yogurt. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about one hour until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough, divide it into six portions, and roll each into an oval shape about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Preheat your oven or grill to high heat (500°F). Cook each naan for about 2 minutes on each side until puffy and charred.
