Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 4 tbsp melted butter
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 2 tbsp fresh thyme (chopped)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm water and sugar in a bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for five minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and melted butter to the flour, stirring until you form a shaggy dough.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for five to seven minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let rise in a warm place until doubled (about one hour).
  5. Punch down the risen dough, roll it into a rectangle, then spread melted butter, minced garlic, herbs, and cheese on top.
  6. Roll tightly from one end to another, seam-side down in a greased baking pan. Let rise again until puffy (about thirty minutes).
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F and bake for twenty-five to thirty minutes until golden brown.
