Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold and diced
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 45 tbsp cold water
  • 3 medium apples (mix of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp), peeled and sliced
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Gradually add cold water until dough forms. Shape into a disc, wrap in plastic, and chill for at least one hour.
  2. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  3. Slice Apples: Thinly slice the apples (about an eighth of an inch thick) and toss them with lemon juice, cinnamon, and sugar.
  4. Roll Out Dough: On parchment paper, roll out the chilled dough into a rough circle about twelve inches wide.
  5. Assemble Galette: Transfer dough to a lined baking sheet. Place sliced apples in the center, leaving a two-inch border. Fold edges over apples gently.
  6. Bake: Brush edges with beaten egg for shine and bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
