Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water and sprinkle yeast over it. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Combine the yeast mixture with melted butter and add to dry ingredients while stirring until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide into equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and place on a greased baking sheet close together.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Allow rolls to rise again for 30 minutes before baking for about 25 minutes until golden brown. Brush with melted garlic butter once out of the oven.
