  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • Icing: 1 cup powdered sugar + 2 tbsp milk (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk and yeast; let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. In another bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and melted butter; mix until a sticky dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour until doubled.
  5. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon for the filling in a small bowl.
  6. Punch down the risen dough, roll out into a rectangle, spread melted butter over it, sprinkle on the cinnamon mixture, roll into a log, and slice into rounds.
  7. Arrange slices in a greased baking dish; cover and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Drizzle with icing if desired.
