  • 1 packet (2¼ tsp) active dry yeast
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk, lukewarm
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (toasted)
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by combining lukewarm milk and yeast in a bowl; let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes). Add sugar, melted butter, eggs, cinnamon, and half of the flour. Mix well.
  2. Gradually incorporate remaining flour while kneading until smooth (about 10 minutes). Let rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  3. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. Spread softened butter on top, sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mix and chopped pecans; roll tightly.
  4. Cut into pieces about 2 inches thick and place them cut-side up in a greased baking dish. Let rise again until puffy (about 30 minutes).
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. For the glaze, whisk together brown sugar and maple syrup over low heat until bubbly; pour over warm buns.
