  • 4 medium potatoes (about 2 lbs), thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère or sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly coat a baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Thinly slice the potatoes to about 1/8 inch thickness using a mandoline or knife.
  3. In a bowl, mix together heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  4. Layer half of the potato slices in the baking dish; pour half of the cream mixture over them and sprinkle with half of the basil. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  5. Top with additional cheese and cover with aluminum foil.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes; then remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
